The panel was sponsored by the Stennis Montgomery Association (SMA) at Mississippi State University. SMA is a student organization that encourages students of every background and academic discipline to participate in politics at both the community and national level. Each year, the most active members of SMA take a trip to the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C. The panel was designed to provide participants a better understanding of street-level bureaucracy and the multidimensional challenges public safety professionals face.
