The Centers on the Public Service at the School of Policy, Government, and International Affairs hosted a panel on “Big Data and Disaster Response” The Superstorm Sandy Caste Study” on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.

The case study utilized a new and cutting edge social science technology – the Social Media Tracking and Analysis System – that analyzes real-time and historical Twitter feed as developed by the Social Science Research Center (SSRC) at Mississippi State University.

Speakers the SSRC included Dr. Arthur G. Cosby, Giles Distinguished Professor and Director, and Dr. Somya Mohanty, Assistant Research Professor.
